The Stylistic Features of English Business Contract
摘  要
商务英语合同是正式英语的一个变种。本文旨在探讨商务英语合同的文体特征。首先,介绍了文体学和合同的方式。然后从词汇角度和句法角度分别分析商务英语合同的文体特征。英语商务合同的词汇特征包括正式词、古体词的频繁使用、外来词的频繁使用、术语的频繁使用和同义词的频繁使用。英文商务合同的句法特征包括长句的频繁使用和被动语态的频繁使用。本文通过语体分析,旨在探究商务合同内在的文体特色,从而为合同的撰写者提供一定的帮助。

ABSTRACT
    Business English contract is a sub-variety of legal English. This paper aims to investigate the stylistic features of business English contracts. First, it introduces the definition, development and basic contents of style, stylistics and contract’s style. Then it analyzes stylistic features of business English contracts from the lexical level and syntactical level. The lexical features of English business contract include frequent use of formal words, archaic words, loan words, technical terms and coordination of synonyms. The syntactic features of English business contracts include frequent use of long sentences and passive voice. This thesis tries to reveal linguistic features of business contract and provide sufficient basis for the effective drafting and deeper understanding of it, we hope it can help the draftsmen to write the business contract better.
